Tropical Traditions Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil Review & Giveaway!!

Finally! After a few bumps in the road, I am finally doing my review & giveaway for Tropical Traditions Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil. Let me start out by saying I had been reading & hearing so much about coconut oil prior to reviewing the Tropical Traditions brand. I had even purchased another brand at a local grocery store. Having never used coconut oil before, I did not know if the one I had purchased was a good quality one or not… Until I received my samples from Tropical Traditions! The moment I unscrewed the lid and took a quick whiff, I could tell the difference. The one I had bought at the grocery store really did not smell like coconut at all, which had surprised me at the time. The Tropical Traditions brand does have a slight coconut aroma to it-it was very light and quite pleasant.

Virgin Coconut Oil, Gold Label – 1 pint

Since receiving my sample, I have cooked with it on numerous occasions. I no longer use vegetable oil to cook with, and have been using olive oil and my Tropical Traditions Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil when I cook. Like many moms out there, I want to prepare healthy meals for my family, with healthy ingredients. So far, my family has enjoyed everything I have prepared for them using my Tropical Traditions Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil! That's definitely a plus. I've also used it for cosmetic purposes! Nothing like killing two birds with one stone!

Tropical Traditions is America's source for coconut oil. Their Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil is hand crafted in small batches by family producers, and it is the highest quality coconut oil they offer. You can read more about how virgin coconut oil is different from other coconut oils on their website: Tropical Traditions.com

What is Virgin Coconut Oil? You can also watch the video they produced about Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil:

Tropical Traditions also carries other varieties of affordable high quality coconut oil. Visit their website to check on current sales, to learn about the many uses of coconut oil, and to read about all the  advantages of buying coconut oil online. Since the FDA does not want us to discuss the health benefits of coconut oil on a page where it is being sold or given away, here is the best website to read about the health benefits of coconut oil.

Tropical Traditions sells many more awesome, healthy products. I was amazed with the variety on their website, they have organic food, skincare, oral hygiene…even pet products!

Postcardly- Review & Giveaway!! :D

If I have not mentioned it before, I LOVE taking pictures! I am always taking pics of our little one (because the oldest won't let me photograph him anymore!) and everything around me. I often email my pics to family and friends…and I often wish I had printed out a pic for them instead. My FIL likes to put photos on his fridge, well, he can't do that with an email! I always intend on getting pics made for him, but it seems I never do get around to doing it.  Imagine my delight when I was contacted by Postcardly!

Postcardly is a new service that lets you send postcards using your email. When you send an email, Postcardly turn your message and attached photo into a real, hold-in-your-hand postcard, sent by U.S. Mail. You can send postcards from your phone, your computer, or anywhere you have email.

“We wanted to find an easier way to get pictures to our relatives that aren’t on email or Facebook,” says Tom Marshall, co-founder of the Seattle start-up. “People love getting the pictures they can hold in their hands, but printing and mailing pictures is a pain. But email is easy, and using Postcardly is just like using your email.”

While other services can turn digital photos into postcards, Postcardly has simplified the process by letting you send a postcard with a quick email—no app, no uploads. Just email. In fact, the only time you ever have to go to the Postcardly web site is to set up your account.

When people sign up, they create Postcardly email addresses that correspond to physical mailing addresses. It’s a one-time set up. After that, when you email grandma at, for example, grandma@postcardly.com, your grandma gets a postcard mailed to her house. You attach a photo to an email the way you normally would—then we print and mail your postcard with your attached photo on the front, and your words on the back.

The company, which has been beta testing since February, has received rave reviews from Postcardly testers. People have sent postcards of their kid’s first ski lift ride in Vail, their new puppy’s stick-chasing adventures on the Washington coast, and a family’s spring break in Finland. The company even got some unexpected feedback from college students, who love the idea of a "retro" paper postcard delivered by mail—but it's even more fun because the postcard has a personal snapshot.

To learn more about Postcardly or to sign up, go to http://www.postcardly.com

Create and send a postcard from a single email.

Send postcards from your phone, computer, or anywhere you have email.

  • No app, nothing to download.
  • 3-postcard FREE TRIAL available
  • Reasonable rate options to choose from:
    • $19.99 for 20 prepaid postcards
    • 5 postcards a month for $4.99/month, or 15 postcards a month for $9.99/month
    • additional postcards for 99 cents each
    • price includes postage
    •
  • I had a couple Postcardly's made for Grandpa & Grandma…they were so happy to receive them! I made one for myself too, just so I could see the finished product. I had one made of a pic I took in NYC this past summer. Hubby liked the finished product so much, he took it to work & has it up on his bulletin board! I think Postcardly is a great idea, and I look forward to using their service…a lot! The postcard arrived very quickly, the card stock is of a very high quality, not flimsy or thin. The colors were true to the original colors in my photo. 5 Stars, Thumbs up, all the way!!!

TOYconomy Review – Toys Delivered to Your Front Door! “Spend Less, Play More!”

I was recently given the opportunity to review TOYconomy, and I jumped at the chance! TOYconomy (http://www.TOYconomy.com) is an online service that rents toys to families to enjoy, without having to purchase them.  Customers can rent individual toys, games, puzzles, electronics and more for 30, 60, or 90 days. At the end of their rental period, they can return the products or purchase them at a discounted rate (minus their rental fee).  They have tons of toys to choose from. The ordering process is simple: You go to their website, choose toys that are age-appropriate for your child, put them in your cart, pay for them (Prices start at $1.99!) and then sit back and wait for them to be delivered to you…via FedEx! When you are done with the toys, FedEx will pick them up for you! (If you are a TOYconomy member, shipping is FREE!)

I told my little one that a special package was going to be arriving for him. He asked me what would be inside the package. When I told him toys for him to play with, he literally started jumping up and down, he was super excited. On the day the package arrived, he was asleep, so I waited for him to wake up. Once he was up, he tore into the box! Inside was a Melissa & Doug, 48 piece wooden jigsaw puzzle and a Battat Little Mechanic Toy Airplane.

He had never played with either one of these toys before. At first, the puzzle was a bit too difficult for him, (he's just 4) but I was surprised at how quickly he caught on and before I knew it, he was putting it together all by himself! The airplane was his favorite of the two. He really had a blast taking the airplane apart and then putting it back together again…so much so that Santa will be bringing him one just like it for Christmas! ;)

The toys were in tip-tip shape when they arrived. They were both wrapped in plastic, the puzzle was in sealed plastic wrap. TOYconomy prides itself on their 3-step sanitation process and every toy you receive will be sanitized and safe from germs (100% Hospital Grade Sanitized). You will also receive a Scout Storage Tote, to keep the toys in. If you become a member of TOYconomy (totally optional, you can rent the toys without becoming a member) you get to keep the storage tote, for as long as you are a member.

You can see from my pic that the storage tote is very deep, lots of room for other toys in there!

TOYconomy was started by a fellow mommy! Shannon McAfee is a mom of three and the winner of StartupNation's Leading Moms in Business Competition 2011! "The idea for TOYconomy was inspired by my own experience as a mother of three kids. I watched toys accummulate quickly, taking over the majority of rooms in our house. I found that my girls only played with a select few things at a time and the other toys just sat there collecting dust. I wanted a way to test-drive toys to know whether my kids liked them before purchasing them. Thus, TOYconomy was born! In addition to being a more economical alternative to buying toys, it helps keep clutter to a minimum in your house and it's an eco-friendly service!"

I can totally see myself using this awesome service. Just imagine taking a trip to Grandma's house…placing an order from TOYconomy before you leave…and then having a package of toys delivered to your child at Grandma's house! How cool would that be?! My child would love that, and so would his grandparents. Maybe you are going on vacation, some place other than grandma's house…guess what? You can have toys delivered there too! Not sure your child will like that toy they have been asking for non-stop? Go ahead and rent it from TOYconomy and see for yourself, before you spend your hard-earned money on it!  The possibilities are endless!!

I must admit, when it was time to pack the toys away and send them back to TOYconomy, my little one was sad…but I cheered him up by telling him we would definitely be using TOYconomy again! Check TOYconomy out for yourself and let me know what you think!

Thanks & take care,

MP!

Product Review for ASL DVD: “Baby, Toddler and Preschool Sign Language” by Louise Sattler and Friends

This is my first product review post on my blog, though I have done other products reviews!

I recently had an opportunity to review an ASL DVD entitled, "Baby, Toddler and Preschool Sign Language" by Louise Sattler and Friends.

I was excited about reviewing this DVD, as our 4 year old has shown an interest in learning ASL. He knows a few words that he has learned from watching
preschool programs on television. I was a bit concerned that he would not be able to sit through an entire DVD, but was I ever wrong!

As I put the DVD into the player, my little guy told me he was "so excited!" I told him I was too. As the video began playing, my preschooler was all eyes. He was sitting right next to me on the sofa and we both starting imitating the signs we were being taught.

This interactive video was full of signs to learn and very "kid-friendly". My preschooler was able to mimic most of the signs he was shown. He was totally into the video and did not get up off the sofa one time. The video had his full attention, and that is a very hard feat to accomplish!

I thought the video was just the right length, not too long and not too short. Louise Sattler does a great job teaching the children sign language. I was impressed with the Spanish words in sign too. My son is very eager to learn other languages. I try to teach him spanish words and he recognized a few of the spanish words being taught in sign, He thought it was very "cool!"

Louise Sattler also has folders & language charts available. They both have photos of children signing on them and the word they are signing is listed under each photo. These would make excellent learning aids and are great idea.

I give "Baby, Toddler and Preschool Sign Language" a big thumbs-up! A+, job well done! If you are looking for a DVD that will teach your baby, toddler or preschooler sign language, this is the one for you!
